现代科技日新月异，书籍的形态也发生巨大变化。但是，紧随科技发展脚步的同时，我们也不要忘记回望传统——诚然，传统的许多智慧，同样聚焦于打造书籍的未来形态，完全能够助力这个目标的实现。就比如，中国传统艺术中金、石、书、画的装潢方式，并非简单罗列文字和图像信息，而是通过框定、变态、隐形、触碰等等手段，引导阅读者充分感受，达到以小见大、以少喻多、以近及远、以有限表示无限的效果，并且通过事实参与的方式，最终提升阅读品质。其架构之坚实，逻辑之清晰、人文意味之完备、饱满，是文字和图像信息优化处理的卓越代表，对于“未来书籍多元叙事” 课题的推进，实在是满目琳琅的大宝库。传统艺术的诸多形式，已经离大众渐行渐远。甚至表面样貌的基本保存，也几无可能。一方面，大家可能感叹伟大传统的没落；另外一方面，现实也鞭策你我，重新以现代的眼光关注传统。毕竟，传统真正需要延续下去的，是精神，不是形式。因此，“舍形取神”也好，“从传统要未来”也罢，都是希望将传统的许多智慧，通过现代转换的方式，化身未来，激励我们持续不断的艺术创造。With the advancement of technology, the form of books has changed considerably. Although the progress of technology has influenced many cultures, we should not forget the traditional treasure. Wisdom from traditional culture has played an important role in redefining the content of books. The presentation of inscriptions, rubbings, paintings, and calligraphy is not just a list of text and image information but also guides the reader to perceive from one small clue that can see what is coming, and by engaging with the facts, it ultimately improves reading comprehension. These works have a solid narrative structure, clear logic, and are full of humanistic meaning, are outstanding examples of the optimal processing of text and visual information. It provides sufficient support for the advancement of the subject. Many forms of traditional art are no longer known to the general public and are even hard to preserve. People lament the decline of tradition, but this situation also inspires a modern approach to re-conceptualize traditional culture. After all, the core of the continuation of traditional culture should be the spirit rather than the form. Therefore, we should abandon formalism and learn the true essence, thus modernizing the wisdom of traditional knowledge and using it to inspire people to keep creating.

视觉传达设计方向
视觉传达设计方向在视觉文化打破原有的学科壁垒、跨界融合发展已是必然的趋势下，基于中央美术学院深厚的艺术教育传统氛围的基础上，对学生不局限于具体的单一专业特性加以训练，而是更加开放对学科基础的理解，强调综合的「设计」概念的认知。最终培养具有相对完整的理论基础，多学科多专业的知识储备，批判性的思维，广阔的学术视野，创新的开拓能力，以专业的态度发现问题、解决问题的能力，以此服务于社会的设计师与研究者。
中央美术学院设计学一级学科作为国家“双一流”建设获批学科，已经建成涵盖视觉传达设计、数字媒体艺术、公共艺术与设计、环境艺术设计、生活产品设计、服装与服饰设计、艺术与科技、设计史及理论等目录内的二级学科，以及自主创设的交通工具设计、社会设计、设计管理、创新设计、系统设计、生态危机设计（智慧城市）等新增二级学科。同时，在保持现有学科口径范围优势下，设计学科以对中国社会未来形态和经济模式整体研判为基础，以积极应对全球科技、经济和社会变革为契机，以培养具有中国文化立场和全球意识的顶尖人才为目标，以服务于国家重大战略举措为根本，全面深化改革和创新驱动发展。面对新时代的形势变局、产业变革、危机与挑战，深刻研读新文科建设内核，设计学院以中国高等教育发展新需求、新变化、新阶段、新特征为依据，将设计学科与现代信息技术等其他专业集群相融合，于新工科、新医科、新农科提出的新命题、新方法、新技术、新手段中，创造新方向、新标准及新价值判断，并研判后疫情时代的全球政治、经济变化，以人类既有的社会组织结构、生产与消费方式为课题研究切入点，以学科专业划分为工具与方法，构建危机意识主导的全新学科教育架构与学科资源整合平台，全面聚焦应对人类未来生存模式的思考与行动。
